Earthquake Aid Keeps Flowing From Florida to Venezuela, as Volunteers Unite to Help Recovery

An Associated Press feature on the massive grassroots relief effort based at GEM's Doral warehouses, where as many as 1,000 volunteers a day sort and pack care packages flown daily to Venezuela — a U.S.-facilitated operation that Capponi says reaches families without ever touching the Venezuelan government.

“We land a private plane, it gets unloaded by U.S. soldiers, it goes in a truck we pay for and to a warehouse that we completely control. It doesn't touch the hands of the Venezuelan government,” said GEM founder and president Michael Capponi.
